A Life-Changing Miracle in Timor-Leste
God continues to advance His purposes in the Bible
translation movement, working through local churches,
communities and ministries. Wycliffe and our global
partners are honored to serve as catalysts in this movement.
One way we hope to see God continue His work is
through the 2025 Summer Campaign, which has the
potential to impact 184 languages in 10 countries. The
Haksolok Cluster in Timor-Leste is one of the projects
being supported through the campaign.
Though Timor-Leste is only the size of Connecticut, the
Asian nation is home to over 30 languages. The Haksolok
Cluster team is working to translate God’s Word into 23
of these languages, potentially reaching more than 1.6
million people. Only five languages in Timor-Leste have
translated portions of Scripture.
God is already moving in people’s lives in Timor-Leste.
One remarkable example is Abrão’s story.
As a child, Abrão suffered from a severe illness. Many
times, he was unable to eat or drink. His mother
constantly prayed for his healing. Before long, God
provided an answer to her prayers — and it started when
a man visited the family’s home and shared the gospel.
“I was encouraged so much and kept hope [in] Jesus for
His miraculous healing,” Abrão said. One night, he had a
dream in which three angels came to him. They asked if
he was ready to follow Jesus. The boy went with them,
and he personally encountered the Lord.

[since then I’ve been] cured,”
he said.
After experiencing Jesus’
healing power, Abrão decided
to follow Him wholeheartedly.
Today he serves as a Bible
translator, working to bring
God’s Word to people in the
Habun language.

Abrão shared. “I am very excited to have my own Bible
in my heart language.”
Members of each Haksolok Cluster language group will
be equipped to continue the work themselves in the long
term. Church leaders will also be trained to distribute
Scripture. Once a translated portion is approved, it will
be used in church services, and leaders will encourage
the people to meditate on God’s Word in study groups.
A project leader said, “Local churches will be more
effective in ministry as a result of Scripture in the
languages of the people, and they will come together
to [advance] the Great Commission in their world.”
