it borders every country in South America except
Chile and Ecuador—10 countries!
The Amazon River and the jungles that surround
it fill most of northern Brazil. Did you know
the Amazon is actually a network of hundreds
of waterways stretching for 4,250 miles? That
makes it the longest river on Earth!

Thousands of animal species live in the
Amazon River, including the piranha and the
boto, a pink river dolphin.
Brazil has a greater variety of living creatures
than any other country in the world. There are
600 kinds of mammals, 1,500 kinds of fish, 1,600
kinds of birds, and 100,000 kinds of insects that
live there! Most of these creatures live in the
jungles, such as the Amazon Rainforest.
