Some languages
are spoken in more than one
country. Think of English or Spanish—
they’re spoken in a lot of different countries!
Languages spread like this when people move to a new
place and take their language with them. When they move
as a big group, it’s called migration. That’s what happened
with the Livvi-Karelian language. Although most
people who speak Livvi-Karelian live in the Russian
Federation, some of them moved to Finland
many years ago.
